The only way to know if your home is ready is to actually do it. You have to see, touch, smell, and feel your home from the inside to decide if it is truly ready.
When I bought my home, I was told by friends who had already done it that it was ready. After my first inspection, I would say that my home was still not ready. But it was ready then, and I am a very impatient person and I’m going to be the first to admit it, but I think this is the only way I will ever be ready for it. Because after all, I have been through this before.
I agree with this. And I think it is also true for many other homeowners. We are often advised to “look at your home and see if it is ready.” We are told to take pictures, or even to sit down and ask ourselves if we are ready. But we rarely do it. People will tell you they are, but they will use one of those silly “see if it is ready” excuses. But I know I’m not.
That’s why I feel so guilty every time I walk into my store and a sales associate will tell me, “Do you see the new line of kitchen cabinets today? They are looking great.” And I will tell him, “Yes I do, but…” and he will say “No, it is not. It is too early.” And I will say, “Then why are you buying them?” And he will say, “I just got them.
But it is too early. I know its too soon and Im sorry, but Im not. I knew Im not but I thought im at least a month away. I didn’t really think I’d make it until the end of October, but now Im starting to panic. I want to make sure I have everything to start my own kitchen cabinet line but Im getting scared that I won’t be able to.
Well, in the first place, you aren’t making a cabinet line, you are buying a cabinet. You can’t do that until you have all the materials and supplies you will need to do so. In the second place, you should be making a “kitchen cabinet line” as opposed to making cabinets, cabinets.
It also happens to be the first part of the month where I have no work. Not sure I want to be working all day if Im not going to get a chance to eat. And I know I have to put my time together.
If I dont have the money, I dont have the time.
My point is that I dont understand why people are complaining about building cabinets if they arent going to be using them. It is the same reason why people complain about painting their houses. They cannot paint their cabinets because they do not have the right material or the right tools.
Building cabinets is one of those activities that, if you don’t have the right materials, tools, and time, it’s pretty much only going to be a hassle. That’s why it is the number one reason people complain about painting their houses. And, if you are a homeowner, you should know that you can’t just pick out or build cabinets that are going to solve your storage woes.
